Join us on Thursday, April 9, for a day-long outing to tour the Spanish mission in San Juan Bautista, about an hour south of San Jose. The Mission San Juan Bautista is one of 21 missions in California, built in 1797.
We will have lunch at a local favorite, Jardines de San Juan Restaurant, on their lovely outdoor patio, then take the short walk to the mission for a guided tour. We hope you will join us for this educational and fun outing.
Details:
- The official mission website is https://oldmissionsjb.org/. Note that it has not been updated since the pandemic.
- We can carpool up to 10 club members and need one volunteer to help drive, in addition to the Activity Leader. (If more than 10 members are interested, we can consider scheduling this outing again in the Fall.)
- Let’s meet, then depart at 10 am from the SCVCC club house, have lunch at ~11:30 am, then take the guided tour at 1:30 pm.
- Each attendee will pay for her own lunch. Admission to the mission is $10, and $7 for those over 50. The cost of the guide is $25 total, which we will divide among the attendees. I encourage you to bring cash for these expenses.
- After the tour, we could walk and shop in the downtown area (https://www.sanjuanbautistaca.com/discover-our-city/shopping/).
- We should return to the clubhouse around 4 – 5 pm.
